Primarily because of Ray and his team's meticulous approach to their work. Each and every window to be restored had its own fully scheduled log (together with photographs) of required repairs, listing everything from nosing splices to the amount of weight used to re-balance the finished sash, giving us complete confidence that only the required repairs were being carried out, conserving as much of the historic fabric as possible. When we changed glass specification halfway through the project Ray had to undertake hand cutting "vauxhall crown glass" - no easy task when it's not even flat.
